Day
1 NAIROBI AIRPORT - HOTEL (30 Kms)
Guests welcomed at NAIROBI airport then transfered by road
to their hotel at the boundary of Nairobi National Park.
Day 2 NAIROBI - EWASO NGIRO RIVER
Track: 170 kms on stony trail
Towards Ngong hills. Then 15 km on a trail going down immediately through the
dry slope of the hills straight into the heart of the Great Rift Valley and
Masai Land. Already expect uncommon encounters on the way and on up to the finish:
Mosiro a small Masai village. Arrive in the afternoon at the village, welcome
and escort by local inhabitants to the camp site along Ewaso Ngiro River at
the foot of Nguruman escarpment. Game tracking on foot under Masai escort along
the river to watch animals coming to drink just before sunset. Later drive to
nearby villages and traditional Masai homes for entertainment by Masai (songs,
dances etc… ). Return to campsite for barbecue together with Masai warriors
listening to their adventurous experiences with wild animals .
Day 3 MOSIRO - NGONG HILLS
Track:160 Km on stony trail
Drive through the foot of Suswa and Longonot volcanos and up a steep trail that
ascends atop Nairobi plateau which commands a splendid view of deep Rift Valley.
Accommodation in a hotel facing Ngong Hills .
Day 4 NGONG HILLS - MAPARASHA HILLS
Track: 150 Kms on earth track
Drive towards Mount Kilimanjaro on a narrow track across
the savannah between acacias and ant-hills. Expect to meet herds of livestock,
antelopes or giraffes. Finally arrive at Maparasha hills to pitch-tent. Evening
excursion on top of the hills to admire wildlife and the mesmerising sunset
on Kilimanjaro whose summit (19950 ft) seems buoyant in the clouds. Later retire
at the campsite for an african dinner around a wood fire.
Day 5 MAPARASHA - KILIMANJARO
Track: 190 Km on earth track
Start with a visit to Maparasha school then drive on an animal trail in the
savannah vegetation to the view of Mount Kilimanjaro which, throwing off its
cloud garment, now spreads its base all along southern horizon in marvelous
splendour. Wildlife is now seen all along the trail following the water pipeline
coming down from the big mountain. Arrival at a hotel in Oloitokitok right at
the foofhill of Kilimanjaro.
Day
6 KILIMANJARO - LAKE JIPE
Track: 160 Km - earth and stones
Enjoying the full-view beauty of the mountain, drive towards
Tsavo on a red and black soil trail covered with volcanic stones. Pic-nic at
the bank of a crystal-clear water spring which is home to the hippopotamus and
bordered with tropical vegetation.
Then along Tanzanian border on a larger trail, passing through an acacia forest
and villages, arrivel at Lake Jipe in the Tsavo reserve through a sandy track.
Game drive just before sunset. Return to the camp on the lake shore for dinner
around a wood fire.
Day 7 LAKE JIPE - NDARA RANCH
Track: 150 Km on sandy trail
Towards Taita Hills, an "island" of luxuriant
vegetation in the middle of vast dry bush and shrubbery along Tsavo Park periphery.
Arrive at Ndara ranch.
Game meat dinner. Night in a cottage.
Day 8 NDARA - TAITA
Track: 160 Km on stones and sand
Go up through a steep track to the top of Sagala hills
which commands Taita land. Pic-nic then go down to the heart of dry shrubbery.
Arrive at Taita ranch to pitch-tent near a waterhole where at night
wild
animals come for water. Evening drive by car to sight elephants. Return at the
camp for dinner.
Day 9 TAITA - MOMBASA
Track: 180 Km
Link with Mombasa south coast on a sandy track, round shimba
hills (rain forest and home of the mighty elephant). Remarkable change in the
vegetation and climate while reaching coast area. Arrival at a beach hotel for
dinner.
Day 10 BEACH AND CONNECTING FLIGHT TO NAIROBI
At the beach; coral and coconut trees… then farewell
lunch. End of afternoon, transfer to Mombasa airport to connect Nairobi for
your return flight.

More hotel accomodation can be arranged on the route for
an extra charge per day
The itinerary may be changed according to the season, weather conditions or
other factors.
It is possible to have a customised itinerary… Note that 150 kms on tracks
are about 4 hours driving!
A proper driving licence is compulsory to participate but drivers need not to
have a special level of driving/riding skills to participate, all you need is
team spirit and the drive - to enjoy!
